Slow progress for live cattle exports from Port Alma in Central Queensland
Plans to have live exports leaving Port Alma, just south of Rockhampton, have not progressed much further as the year comes to an end. Some Central Queensland producers were hopeful a new live export facility could have been up and running by the end of 2015, but time is running out. In August, a private consortium of graziers and investors had received approval to go ahead with the project. Cattle producer Andrew Olive, of Raglan Station, has been an active voice behind the Port Alma plans. Despite the slow progress, he said he was still confident cattle would be shipped from the facility next year, with backing from state and federal politicians boosting Mr Olive's confidence. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-12-08/slow-progress-for-port-alma-live-beef-exports/7006842
